Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire Review

Slumdog Millionaire is an award winning latest movie. Danny Boyle’s latest offering, Slumdog Millionaire, is generating a fair amount of buzz. Funny, shocking, spectacularly turbo-charged.

Slumdog Millionaire follows the story of Jamal Malik, an unlikely winner of India’s version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. An 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much?
People have been praising the performances in the film, and with the exception of the child actors and Bollywood veteran Anil Kapoor, I’m bewildered by this. Dev Patel’s Jamal is passable at best.

The love story, seen by many to be central to the film, is sorely lacking. Jamal and Latika meet because they are both orphans.

Genres: Art/Foreign, Comedy, Drama

Running Time: 2 hrs.
